SPLITTING/ABSENCE: OPERA
CALL FOR INTERVIEWS
I’m creating a new opera! This time, the subject is the late Chilean-American artist Gordon Matta-Clark, who’s influence reverberates until these days. Set in the 1970s New York, Splitting / Absence highlights Matta-Clark's collaborations, his SoHo art scene involvement, and the genesis of 'Food,' a revolutionary art space fostering experimentation and communal gatherings. The opera will explore Matta-Clark's innovative 'building cuts,' physically dissecting abandoned buildings, challenging traditional notions of space, architecture, and social structures. I’m looking for all kind of stories: personal, collaborations, inspiration, from people who have any connection with him.
First round of interviews: June 2024 (closed)
Second round of interviews: October 2024 (open)
Please fill the following form to tell us more about you, your connection with the subject and availability.
